Goose Hollow Farm
|
When we moved
our horses home back in 2002 and decided to start our own breeding
program, we needed a name. The "Goose" part was easy.
That's the name of my husband's beloved black lab. But Goose
what? Our farm lies in a glacial drumlin, deep in
the heart of the Wisconsin Kettle Moraine. In essence, a hollow.
And so, Goose Hollow Farm was born. |

So where did
the name Goose come from? Well, being a bird dog, the name is
rather fitting. Other than that.... too many Tom Cruise movies I
guess... |

D'Yquem
|
When looking
for a name for our new filly, we needed the name to start with a "D",
after her sire Donavan. We wanted something elegant and unique. It brought to mind a wine my grandfather
used to share with us at family gatherings and special occasions
called Chateau d'Yquem, a French dessert wine. He used to call
it "sleeping wine" and we always felt quite special when we were
allowed to share a sip with the "grown ups". Chateau d'Yquem is
considered to be the highest in quality and the standard that all
other wines in its category are compared to. We thought the name
was befitting our lovely filly. |
